Monk's House ....

When we arrived in Sussex last year, a visit to Monk's House was high on my list. Especially after watching the beautiful television series Life in Squares about the Bloomsbury group
A mini-series about the story of the close and often fraught relationship between sisters Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf.

Like other notable authors, Virginia wrote in a wooden "writing lodge" tucked into the orchard garden, where she was surrounded by wonderful views.

Again we were so very lucky with the weather and ate our lunch overlooking the apple orchard under 'the guidance' of Virginia and Leonard Woolf.

Afterwards we visited the house where a friendly guide gave us a tour.

But first I fell in love with the greenhouse near the entrance.

Lastly, we visited the allotment with a magnificent view.

It was such an inspiring visit and hope our upcoming holiday will bring us just the same.

Our first week we will stay in the Peak District and Chatsworth House and Garden will be one of the things we will definitely visit.

During our holiday the shop will still be open for all your orders, which will all be dispatched on our return.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us by email.

  1. Anita thank you for sharing Monk House with us. It is a place that I can only dream of visiting. My favorite gardening book is the Virginia Woolf one. A book I won in a giveaway from Cabbages and Roses when I was new on Instagram. I hope you have a wonderful time. May is the month of beauty so just the perfect time to go. Your shop is so lovely dear. If shipping did not cost so much I would purchase a few things. I know that is not your fault. I rarely ship internationally because of the cost. But it looks like you are doing quite well. x Kerrie

PS. So happy your son is home safe. My daughter is now traveling Peru for a month. She is having a wonderful time but this Momma is ready for her to come home. She has been gone since March 6!
